Favorite Cardi So Far!

One great thing that happened during the dark night of no blogging was that I finished my Comfort Fade Cardi. And I love it! I mean, I really love it.

The fit is just right–not too loose or too snug–and the cozy factor is through the roof. I’ve knit sweaters with a shawl collar before and had the collar not sit right so that it needed to be adjusted constantly (looking at you, Gramps). Not this baby! It’s easy, easy to wear. Feels great. Looks great. It’s the total package.

The only major adjustment I made was to the sleeves. I was afraid they’d be too narrow if I knit them as the pattern indicated, so I didn’t start my decreases until near the cuff. This turned out just fine but probably wasn’t necessary.

The yarn I used was Hedgehog Fibres Merino DK. The colors lifted my spirits every time I knit on this. Even if I just saw it in my project bag, it made me happy. The darker wine color is “Plump,” followed from top to bottom by “Birthday Cake,” “Iris,” and “Cereal.” I reversed the color order on the collar because I wanted the purpley winey colors nearer my face.

I am definitely going to knit this again, but I might do it in a single color or maybe do some color blocking next time. I’ve got this crazy idea to put all of my favorite sweater components into my own custom dream sweater, so maybe it will actually morph into that. Who knows? In the meantime, I plan to wear this pretty much around the clock once the cold weather gets here.

I’ll leave you with a picture from one of the walks which continue to do me so much good. Be well, my friends!

    • Haha! Says the world’s most accomplished spinner! LOL But thank you. There was nothing complicated about this one–just a great design. The shawl in the header is actually another Andrea Mowry pattern. It’s the “Free Your Fade” in DK. There’s also a fingering weight version that I’d like to knit at some point.

  1. I love your cardi! I mean, I really, really love it!! It is just stunning and I am so glad to read your fit report. I usually shy away from open cardigans but you have converted me. The colors are really appealing, too, and look great on you.

Note to self: Must knit faster!!

  2. The sweater is gorgeous and you are glowing in it! This post was well worth the wait; what a stunning knit and the perfect way to think Fall-wards. I’m glad that the blogging break was passed with good things on the needles! Wishing you a very smooth start to the school year, Melinda!
