Thank heavens for the Arne and Carlos quarantine knitting Mystery KAL and daily podcast. The podcasts are upbeat and funny and sweet. There is an enormous warm Facebook group with people from all over the world knitting, crocheting, embroidering, and otherwise working the patterns and uplifting each other. And the daily mystery squares are pure happiness. They make it feel like the days are not just passing but being lived and acknowledged, even honored, in some way. I cannot recommend the whole thing highly enough. The patterns and participation are all free, a gift from Arne and Carlos.
The squares at the top of the post are from Week 1. Here’s Week 2 so far.
Here are a few other things that are helping me through these days.
- Sir Patrick Stewart reading a Shakespeare sonnet a day
- Yo-Yo Ma and his #SongsOfComfort
- Myst

Huge love going out to you all, my friends!
Thank you for sharing all those awesome links and the video! I loved that song 🙂 I worked virtually before this started and am still working virtually, so I don’t have as much time as I wish, but we’re making the best of it! What are you going to do with all those squares? A blanket? Or coasters?
Heyyyyy, Paula!! I’m so happy you like the links and video too. I just couldn’t get over how cute the couple in the video was.
I guess the fact that you already worked virtually is both a blessing and a difficult thing in that you have a job (yay!) but you’re having to work through all of this (yikes). It must be very hard to concentrate. Hang in there!
The Arne and Carlos project is a mystery KAL, so the final design hasn’t been revealed. Depending on how long all of this lasts, though, I might end up with a blanket by the end of it!
Take care of yourself! Thank you so much for your comment and the update. Hope you’re getting to do some knitting. ❤️
I think now would be a good time to learn how to do colourwork, so I might just join in!
I hope you do!!! They’ve just extended it for another two weeks, so it would be a great time to get involved. 🙂
