Look at this great photo from 1914!
It’s from a new book called People Knitting: A Century of Photographs, by Barbara Levine. I can hardly wait!! It will be released on October 4th. My birthday! 🙂

Fabulous picture! I don’t know about you, but when I look at old photos like this I like to try and work out which person I would have been – the geeky one, the quirky one, the rebellious one, the good-time gal, the shy one? Can’t quite figure it out in this particular photograph though… What about you?
Thank you so much for commenting! And what a fun way to think about it! I haven’t done that before, but I know I will now. For some reason I absolutely love to look at pictures of people knitting from ANY time period. I especially love older ones like this when they are candid shots. So many of the vintage photos of people with their knitting appear so carefully staged that I don’t get a sense of how their knitting was actually a part of their life. It looks like this book has a lot of the more informal, snapshot-type photos, though. I can’t wait!
I’m one of the ones falling down.
Haha! That’s okay. They look like they’re having the most fun! 😉
Hadn’t heard anything about this release, but it looks intriguing. Thank you for the post!
I was really excited to come across the article. I’ve pre-ordered the book, so I’ll let you know if it’s as wonderful as it sounds like it’s going to be once it gets here.
What a cool book! I love vintage photographs and, of course, knitting – I may have to treat myself to this book!
Doesn’t it look wonderful? Supposedly, it was released yesterday, so I should be getting my copy in a couple of days. Can’t wait!
